Oklahoma Miner (Krebs, Okla.)

The Osage Coal and Mining Company is most remembered for the Krebs Number Eleven mine explosion in 1892. Approximately 100 miners were killed and another 200 injured. Between 1885 and 1934 at least 144 mining deaths occurred in the course of Osage operations. Oklahoma's coal industry prospered until the 1920s.
